<p>More and more homes are losing the land-line in favor of <strong>mobile phones</strong>.  Since everyone has a cell phone it may not make sense to also have a land line.  I know at my house when the land line rings no one wants to answer it because they know if someone wants to reach them they would call their <strong>cell</strong> so it must not be for them.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Direct Response Marketing (DRM) is a form of marketing that is designed to elicit an immediate response that is specific and quantifiable.  How many of us have filled out the Publisher&#8217;s Clearing House envelope where we had to find the gold seal and place it on the outside of the envelope and then search through all the pages of the add to find certain stickers and place them on a card etc.  Then they told us that the first 100 responses would be eligible for additional gifts creating a sense of urgency. When we do this we are engaged and invested in their products.  They got us to read the whole add and act.  Pretty smart marketing.</p>
<p>With SMS text messaging we can do this too.  We can engage our customers, who have already opted-in and agreed to accept our text messages because they like this business. We can ask them to respond to a survey or question like &#8220;Which is better pizza or pasta? text answer to 72727&#8243;  Now we have enticed them to engage and they are thinking about our pizza and pasta.  We aren&#8217;t promising them a discount or anything free we are just touching them with our brand and reminding them we are here &#8211; ready and waiting for them. It cost us very little &#8211; virtually pennies. We can do this multiple times per month or over a couple of months.  In this way we are communicating with them and building a relationship with them that they will value and return to.</p>
<p>We are so lucky to be living in this time.  It was never before possible to do this.  Print adds are often unnoticed and unread, radio and TV adds are easily missed if you aren&#8217;t listening closely, even a marquis requires you to be in a certain location to be exposed.  The gens X and Y consider already email passé. Now we can touch customers any time and 95% of the messages are read within 5 minutes! Nobody leaves home without their cell phone. The future is mobile.</p>
