Every person that walks through the door today, they buy their food and as they’re leaving we hand them a flyer that says
“For a FREE appetizer next visit, text (name of their restaurant) to 72727”
What happens is many of them say to themselves “I want a free appetizer next visit” and they text in. We get 10 people or more a day to do that and they get a mobile coupon sent right back to their phone that says “FREE appetizer next visit with purchase of $10 or more.” The actual offer we use is whatever makes financial sense to you and whatever your customers would text in for. Then we make sure it has an expiration date on it, let’s say 2 weeks from today, that causes a quick repeat visit.
If they redeem it great, which we often times will see up to 15% redemption of that initial coupon offer. Are you following me so far? So they get the instant coupon back and they either use it or they don’t but the real value is the long term proposition. It’s called OPT-IN DATABASE building.
We are talking building 300 people in the corse of a month and we can build a database unlimited in size. We push out one promotion at 4:05 PM on a Tuesday, we send it to those 300 people. 95% of them read it within 5 minutes. What we get out of that is the highness redemption rate of any other couponing effort or call to action that you could possibly get! So you get anywhere between 3, 5, 22% redemption rate, depending on how great that offer is. It comes down to measurable results.
Now remember, the database keeps building month after month. By the third month we have build 1000 in your database. When we push out our message to those 1000 people, we pull in a 4% return, 4% of 1000 is 40 people times your average ticket, I’ll say $30 again (although most of our restaurants average $40-$60) that’s $1200 in revenue that you just made usually over a 3 day period. Over and above what your normal Tuesday would have been. The ad cost to deliver those 1000 coupons is only $55. That’s a 21 to 1 return on your ad dollar. You’ve already made your initial investment back.
